Viani Bay Resort is a secluded, boat-access-only eco-retreat in the heart of Fiji’s Rainbow Reef. With a maximum of ten guests, sustainably built oceanfront bures, artisanal Fijian cuisine, and our on-site 5★PADI ECO Dive & Freediving Center, the experience is intimate, personal, and deeply connected to nature and culture. Guests are welcome to join our conservation program and connect with the community — making every stay both restorative and impactful.

At Viani Bay Resort, we offer an unpretentious yet comfortable stay shaped by good food, great diving and genuine connection. Our sustainably built bures are naturally cooled by sea breeze and fans, with the resort powered by solar energy and intentionally designed without air conditioning. All stays are meal-inclusive. Each day, our chefs curate contemporary artisanal Fijian cuisine using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere is personal and relaxed — inviting you to explore, connect and experience the true warmth of Fijian hospitality.
Dive the Rainbow Reef
Diving the Rainbow Reef is about colour, timing, and being in the right place at the right moment. From vibrant soft corals and abundant marine life to the legendary Great White Wall — and seasonal encounters with manta rays — our location in the heart of the reef allows us to select dive sites based on conditions, diver experience, and wish lists, rather than fixed schedules. This flexibility means we can dive the White Wall almost any day, sometimes even by night.
As an award-winning 5★ PADI ECO Dive & Freediving Center, we dive with groups of up to four divers per boat and return to shore between dives. Dive Academy Fiji is also the only PADI Freediving Center at the Rainbow Reef.
Not a diver yet? Try it for the first time or take a PADI course from discovery to professional level. Through your diving you support our scholarship program that support local divers and connect education, conservation, and community.
Experiences
Beyond diving and snorkelling, set your own pace. Paddle or kayak across the bay, stroll along the shoreline, ride a horse bareback on the beach, or join a guided hike or village visit. Food lovers may enjoy learning to prepare Fijian dishes, while others take part in coral restoration or discover the making of Fiji Sea Salt on site. At times, it’s enough to slow down, stretch with a gentle yoga session, and enjoy the view from a hammock.
Conservation & Community
Our vision is to protect the reef we depend on and support the community we are part of. At Viani Bay, sustainability is part of daily life — from coral and giant clam farming and a long-standing tabu reef area to scholarships for local divers, animal desexing programs, and community support initiatives. Guests are welcome to observe or take part in efforts that benefit both the marine environment and the people who call this place home.
Our Story
What started as two dreams became a shared vision. Marina wanted to leave corporate life behind to engage in marine conservation, support the local community, and share her passion for the underwater world. After seven years in Germany, Jone returned home to Fiji with the goal of creating education and jobs, and involving people directly in protecting the ocean through his own dive centre.
Together, they built Viani Bay Resort and Dive Academy Fiji as a small, independent place where diving, conservation, and genuine hospitality go hand in hand. The way the resort feels — unhurried, welcoming, and grounded — reflects shared values, long-term relationships, and daily involvement in the life of the bay.
